The NFL season is quickly approaching us and the regular season is about to start in a few short weeks. I was doing a fantasy football draft earlier today and started thinking about who the award winners were going to be. Here is what I have come up with.
MVP: Peyton Manning - I am going with the hometown pick on this one for two reasons. 1) LaDainian Tomlinson is going to have a hard time reaching 31 touchdowns again. 2) It's Peyton Manning. If you don't like that reasoning, then I don't know what to tell you!
Offensive Rookie of the Year: Calvin Johnson - He certainly has the most opportunity to be a big time play maker in this league. I look for him to have a similar year to what Marques Colston had last year. Look for Marshawn Lynch to push for this since he is going to have the most playing time of all the other rookies.
Defensive Rookie of the Year: Patrick Willis - He is a tackling machine and with an improved defense in San Francisco, this young linebacker has the potential to make the Pro Bowl this year.
Most Prison Salads Tossed: Mike Vick - It was a close call between him and Rae Carruth, but I decided that Rae Rae has learned about the "penal" system by now and Mike is fresh meat.
Biggest Bust of the Century: Jamarcus Russell - You mean to tell me that he is willing to let Daunte Culpepper and Andrew Walter jump him on the depth chart because his agent wants more money? Here is how it's going to play out: He gets signed, he starts, he struggles, he gets hurt, he snaps on the media, he snaps on the coaches, he snaps on his teammates, he goes to volunteer as a high school quarterback coach. Sound familiar?
Most likely to make you forget about Joey Harrington: Brady Quinn - or whatever Browns quarterback is playing at the time.
Player you shouldn't have passed on in the draft: Paul Posluszny and Michael Bush (tie) - Yes, I'm talking to you on the first one Bill Polian. I'm talking to everyone else who didn't draft Bush on the first day.
Hopefully this will bring you some insight into the rapidly approaching season!

I like Peterson, but I think he might get some votes taken away if he doesn't start the games. It will be like what happened to Addai last season. But, since he is a higher pick, he will probably get the votes.

I think he's going to have an easier time scoring TD's than Johnson. I think teams will be on the lookout for Johnson and since he relies on Kitna to get him the ball Kitna might look elsewhere in that offense.
Peterson was a bigger prospect coming out of college than Addai. I think Addai surprised people with his ability to pick up the Colts offense.

Adrian Peterson for OROY and I heard Bush might not even play this season because of his leg?
