After five days without internet access, I am finally back online and ready to bust out these articles.
I last left off on my vacation story. We had gone to see three games in three days. I previously wrote about my experiences at the Devil Rays and Red Sox game. That was on a Sunday, which meant it was get-away-day for Boston. Toronto was on its way in for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We went to the Monday and Tuesday games.
Again, our seats were great. We were on the first row right behind the Toronto bullpen. On top of that, I was sitting right next to Jesse Litsch's high school coach. He told me how Litsch volunteered his time and effort to help with the pitchers and their techniques while he was in AAA. The Head Coach chased him off and said that they didn't need his help. I was baffled to hear that, because he is a Major League pitcher. I'm sure that high school doesn't produce that level of talent everyday.
The game was entertaining. Here are a few notes from the game:
· Alex Rios is awesome
· John McDonald played great defense (he had two web-gems on Baseball Tonight that game)
· Both bullpens are shaky at best
· Jonny Gomes, BJ Upton, and Carl Crawford hit homeruns
· I found an annoying Canadian fan that I hated more than any Red Sox fan (no offense to the rest of Canada)
· I called a Carl Crawford, walk off, home run (He played the 9th - 11th innings and was 1-1, 2 runs scored, and had a stolen base)
Also, Tropicana Field is one of the best ball-parks I've ever been to. The concourse is a bit like a party atmosphere. I saw a man on 10ft stilts walking around, girls with beads, a Budweiser bar, tons of food right when you walk in, and several family attractions. They have a booth where you can have your own Louisville Slugger engraved with your name engraved into it for $50. I chose a black bat with silver lettering. I figured for that amount, I couldn't get a regular Louisville Slugger, let alone with my name engraved into it. Plus, I think I could pull off a few "stories" to impress the ladies when needed! There is also a booth where you can have your own baseball card made. I thought that was pretty cool, but I did not partake in this event.
Overall, another fun evening at a great ball-park with great seats.
