haren.jpgLet me just take a minute to introduce to you the 2007 American League Cy Young Award winner:  Dan Haren.

I know the season isn't over yet and Oakland probably won't make the playoffs this year, but Haren is BY FAR, the most dominant pitcher in the American League this season.

You don't believe me?  Let me just run this down for you.  Haren is currently 13-4 (starting tonight against the White Sox) and has an AL leading 2.53 ERA.  He is only two wins behind the leaders, Josh Beckett and John Lackey.

Still don't believe me?  Check out this stat.  Haren has started 25 games so far this year.  He has given up 3 ER or less in 24 of those 25 starts!  Eight of those starts ended up in no decisions.  Five of those ND resulted in losses given up by the bullpen.

Two of his four losses came because the Oakland offense got shutout.  The first two decisions of the year were 1-0 and 2-0 losses.

Haren could hypothetically have 20 wins right now to go along with his league leading 2.53 ERA.  I know this could be said for most pitchers and you get into the "if this / if that" argument, but by looking at the numbers, you can not really argue that Haren has not been the best pitcher in the American League this year.

I know my opinion is a biased one, but if you can make an argument, please let me know!
