I have two part-time jobs that I work while I finish school.  Both of them are customer service related.  While I do enjoy people for the most part, I find myself annoyed a few times a week.  I can recall two times this past weekend where I was quite annoyed and I wasn't sure how I should react.

Scenario One:

I am a server (because I guess I have to say that now) at a restaurant and this particular restaurant is usually very loud.  I don't have the best hearing in the world due to my enjoyment of listening to my music at a loud level and also because I work on generators in the Air Force.  The combination of my sub-par hearing and a ton of loud background noise is not a good one for this line of work.  I was taking drink orders for a family and I got to the young girl in the family.  She mumbled something which I did not hear, so I leaned over a little and said "I'm sorry, I didn't catch that."  She rolled her eyes at me and then said "I said, I want a root beer."  This did not please me one bit and I think the look I gave her let her know that.  However, I did not stop there, I had to retort with "When you speak to someone, you should respect them enough to look at them."  This got a chuckle out of her dad, a displeased look from her mom and another eye roll from the little brat.  I'd say she was about 12 or 13 years old and I can remember how my little sister was at that age.  Pure evil.  Well, nothing else was said and the meal went fine, but when the family was leaving, the mother had to let the manager know that I was rude to their daughter.  The manager asked me about it, I told him the story, he sort of shook his head and went about his business.  I didn't get into trouble like the woman had hoped.
