With the end of summer, the baseball season soon follows.  This year has been up and down for me and my Oakland Athletics.  I am truly confused about how this team is three games under .500.  They have been the very definition of mediocre.  They will play like they are in a pennant race for a few games, then play like the Washington Nationals for a few games.  It is very frustrating.

I have a subscription to MLB.com so I can watch all the games.  Since the All-Star break, I haven't made it through two complete games in a row, because I just get so disgusted with their play.  I don't think I've seen more blown games in one year, than I have this year.

I'm not going to blame injuries and inexperience for the problems.  If you are a MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYER, then you should play like one.  If the guy in front of you goes down with an injury, then you step in and do your job.  The saying goes, "A team is only as strong as its weakest link."  A record of 68-71 indicates to me that the team is obviously not very strong.

I am excited for next season though.  With all the talented youth on the team, I can only hope for a positive outcome.  For this season, I am just hoping we get to 81-81 at this point.
