I'm sitting here at work and I the T.V. is on ESPN (as it always is).  All their little shows are analyzing "video gate" and giving their two cents on what should happen to Bill B. and the New England Patriots.  All the scenarios are being brought to the table and all I can think is "I'm glad that isn't my team".  Which brings me to the thought of, what if it was my team?

What if it was your team that cheated?  Brian, can you imagine if Andy Reid was busted for video taping the Green Bay Packers to gain a "competitive advantage"?  Jack, what would it feel like if Carlos Zambrano was on the new list of names for receiving steroids?  Bruce, what if Peyton Manning came out and said that he used HGH?  What if Ted Hillary was indicted in the referee gambling ring?  What would happen if Tom Glavine or John Smoltz were financing a multi-state dog fighting circuit?

I have taken a step back and thought about what I would feel as a fan.  I posted about Shawne Williams the other day when he got into trouble.  My thoughts are pretty much the same across the board.  If one of my favorite players or coaches or sports figures was to get into trouble, I would feel devastated at first.  Then, I would say GET RID OF HIM/THEM.

My love of sports goes beyond the players and the coaches.  I have my teams that I root for and I hate when they lose or perform poorly, but if any game is on, I will watch it.  I love the purpose of competition.  I love the escapism of sports.  I love how a game can put me in a euphoric state of mind.

I hate that money has ruined the games I love.  I hate Drew Rosenhaus and Scott Boras and Lee Steinberg.  I hate the collective bargaining agreement.  I hate the people that have helped ruin sports with their greed and their willingness to cheat. I hate "win at all costs" and "just win baby."  I hate the pampered athletes that think they are above the law and above civil duty.

What if things went back to the way they used to be?

amen, bro. If Marvin was caught doping I would turn my back on him. No question. I turned my back on Canseco when i was 12, I turned my back on Sean Connery when he said hitting his wife was okay, and I would turn on a player or a coach that was cheating. I chose to be a Colts fan, and part of that choice was liking the guys on the team. I am glad that my team is coached by a guy like Dungy and led by guys like Peyton and Marvin, because I don't have to worry about douchebags

I'm a Cubs fan, not a Z fan. If Sandberg was found to be using PED's I'd be fairly upset.
