No, this is not the title of the sequel to Wildcats starring Goldie Hawn.
Those that know me, know that I am a huge fan of the University of Arizona Wildcats basketball team. Why? I have no clue, I have always liked them, just like I have always liked the Oakland A's. I keep up on their recruiting, how they are playing at UA, I watch as many games as I can (thank God for Fox Sports), and I follow them in the NBA. Here is a list of the Arizona alumni that are playing in the NBA right now.
Salim Stoudamire - 8.7 ppg in two seasons. Stuck in the heavy guard rotation of Atlanta. Cousin of Damon Stoudamire.
Hassan Adams - 2.9 ppg in his rookie year with the Nets. Was cut in the off season and is now trying to make the Cavaliers squad. Should catch on somewhere, he is too good not to.
Jason Terry - 15.9 ppg, 5.3 apg in 644 career games. He is now in his fourth season as the Mavericks' floor general.
Luke Walton - 5.3 ppg career average. Last season he averaged 11.4 ppg, 4 apg, 1 spg, and 5 rpg in an increased role with the Lakers. This year should be another year in which he builds on his numbers.
Damon Stoudamire - Former Rookie of the Year is now looking like the future backup for the Memphis Grizzlies. His career averages of 14 ppg and 6.4 apg are nothing to be ashamed of.
Richard Jefferson - 16.3 ppg, 3 apg, and 5.6 rpg are his career averages. He is only 27 years old, but his health has been questioned.
Andre Iguodala - A career year for the new "AI" last season was just a glimpse into this youngsters abilities. He is now the man in Philly and he can do it all. 18ppg, 6apg, 6rpg, and 2spg while playing 40 minutes every night is quite impressive and I look for these numbers to increase this year.
Channing Frye - After an impressive rookie year in New York, his second year was a bust. Still averages 11ppg and 6rpg. Will be needed this season as Greg Oden is out for the year in Portland.
Mike Bibby - I've followed Bibby his whole career. He was drafted in my senior year of high school (1998) after his sophomore year at UA. People say he is on the downside of his career, but I'm not so sure. He has averaged 16.8ppg, 6apg, 3rpg, and 1spg in 675 career games (he started all 675 games he has played).
Mustafa Shakur - The rookie point guard is learning from Mike Bibby on how to run a team in the NBA. He is currently competing with Orien Greene for the backup spot this preseason.
Marcus Williams - The rookie small forward is fighting for playing time this preseason on a deep San Antonio team. He should have stayed for one more season, if not only to mature. He won't get much playing time if he doesn't get his mental attitude to meet his physical skills.
Gilbert Arenas - Agent Zero has carved himself out a nice little career in the NBA. Guess being told that "you can't play" his whole life lit a fire inside him. He had a career year last year with 28ppg, 6apg, 5rpg, and 1.88 spg.
*** I would also take the time to state that Jason Gardner and Mike Dickerson should both be in the NBA. There is no valid/intelligible argument as to why they are not on an NBA roster. That also goes for Ed Cota...yes, I know that he played at North Carolina, but he deserves the love.***
