This is the third most fun part of my sports year; 1) March Madness, 2) MLB Opening Day, 3) Bowl Season! So, I am going to pick every bowl game and see how I fare.
Poinsettia Bowl: Utah vs Navy - I didn't get to post this before the game started (its at half now, Navy is up 10-7). I was taking Navy for a couple reasons. Ball control and underdog = Bowl Victory. What is a Ute anyway?
New Orleans Bowl: Memphis vs Florida Atlantic - Tough call. Has anyone outside of Memphis or wherever Florida Atlantic is seen these two play? I'm going with Florida Atlantic, because I like their ferocious mascot?! Kelper knows what I mean when I say "F*ckin Owl!"
Papajohns.com Bowl: Southern Miss vs Cincinnati - First off, change the name of this bowl game. Seriously, a pizza bowl? I don't care what the score of this game is, there are no winners when you play in a bowl game named after pizza. Cincy wins it big.
New Mexico Bowl: Nevada vs New Mexico - Really?? New Mexico in the New Mexico Bowl? Notre Dame couldn't pull off a Notre Dame Bowl? Look who has the real college clout now Golden Domers! I like Nevada to beat New Mexico, in New Mexico, in the New Mexico Bowl.
Las Vegas Bowl: UCLA vs BYU - Safe to say BYU won't be partaking in any of the Vegas nightlife...and that is why they will win this game!
Hawaii Bowl: Boise State vs East Carolina - OH, so now teams will travel to play in Hawaii! I'll take the Broncos since they have experienced the long trip to the Islands before...and they are a better team than the Pirates. ARRRRGGGHHHH! Seriously, a purple pirate? What the hell is scary or intimidating about a purple pirate? Bet he got his eye patch from a horrible day after Thanksgiving shopping accident....shopping for his other earring that is.
Motor City Bowl: Purdue vs Central Michigan - Purdue's spread offense will be too much in this game. Hey Selwyn Lymon, good judgment on your part huh?
Holiday Bowl: Arizona State vs Texas - Nice match-up here. Sun Devils or Longhorns? I don't know...I think I'm gonna have to look again.........Ok, I think I'm gonna go with Arizona State in this one...they display good form teamwork!
Champs Sports Bowl: Boston College vs Michigan State - Matt Ryan could use a strong showing in this game to help keep his stock up for next years draft. I'll go with BC in this one.
Texas Bowl: TCU vs Houston - I am going to go with the rule of the mascots on this one. A cougar should be able to eat a horned frog right? But, I read that horned frogs can shoot blood out of their eye balls and that scares the shit out of me. TCU takes the cake in this one.
Emerald Bowl: Maryland vs Oregon State - Beavers and...Terps? Doesn't have the same ring as Beavers and Ducks. MMM, Beaver...Oregon State wins this game.
Meineke Bowl: UCONN vs Wake Forest - A mascot like a Demon Deacon seems a bit sac religious to me...which is why Wake Forest will win this game. You have to play some weird mind games with your opponent and being a Demon and a Deacon certainly gets me thinking...games over what...see what I mean?
Ok, picking up where I left off last night.
Liberty Bowl: UCF vs Mississippi State - I would like to see Sylvester Croom win his first bowl game with the Bulldogs. I think he is good for the college game and his emotion shows that he cares about the game, the players, and his program. So, for the good of the college game, I am taking Miss. State.
Alamo Bowl: Penn State vs Texas A&M - Wow, the committee for this bowl game are probably a little nervous about their two selections. You never know when one of the teams can get into trouble! I'll go with Penn State. JoePa rarely gets out-coached.
Independence Bowl: Alabama vs Colorado - Satan has to have a good game plan coming in. If not, Colorado might just win this one. Because afterall, this ain't intramurals brotha! However, I'll go with Alabama in this one.
Armed Forces Bowl: California vs Air Force - Well, my pick for the National Championship didn't quite pan out this year. They now find themselves in a dangerous game with a quick Air Force team. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Air Force wins this one...I have to! Besides, Cal has hippies living in their trees and I can't get down with that.
Humanitarian Bowl: Georgia Tech vs Fresno State - Eh, I know nothing about these two teams. So, I'll go with who has the hotter ex-coach! I'm inspired to go with Fresno State in this one.
Sun Bowl: South Florida vs Oregon - Two teams that are explosive on offense. This should be one of the better bowl games this year. If Oregon can be creative with their game plan, then South Florida might have a hard time gaining momentum in this game. However, I don't really like Brady Leaf leading this offense. I'll go with South Florida.
Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl: Kentucky vs Florida State - Is there a more non-manly name for a bowl game than this? Next year...The Singer Sewing Bowl?? Florida State really screwed the pooch with all the idiots they have playing on their team. Not only are they idiots, they are stupid idiots. Kentucky wins this gift of a game.
Insight Bowl: Indiana vs Oklahoma State - Well, it's been established that Mike Gundy IS A MAN! But, Indiana is still riding it's emotional season into their 13th game. With a quick start, things could snowball for IU (that's for you Shooter)! IU wins it.
Chick-fil-A Bowl: Clemson vs Auburn - Tigers vs Tigers...hmmm, tough call. It's a good thing this game isn't played on a Sunday...since Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays. I have no links for this game. But, if Clemson can get its running game going against Auburn's tough D, then it could be a bad day for Tommy Tuberville. I'll go with Auburn though...defense wins bowl games??
Outback Bowl: Wisconsin vs Tennessee - Too many blooming onions is a bad thing. If PJ Hill can lay off the food while before the game, then Wisconsin should win. But, Phil Fullmer is fighting for his job, again, and I think that the Vols will win this one.
Cotton Bowl: Missouri vs Arkansas - I personally hope that Arkansas never wins another game as long as the school exists. Plus, I like Chase Daniel's style of play. Missouri should roll in this one. Then, Darren McFadden and Felix Jones should declare for the NFL draft right after the game. Bobby Petrino will then quit and go coach Rae Carruth's prison team.
Gator Bowl: Texas Tech vs Virginia - The Red Raiders have one of the most fun offenses to watch in all of college football. Let's see if the spread can beat UVA's tough defense lead by Howie's boy, Chris Long. I'll go with UVA in this one.
Capital One Bowl: Michigan vs Florida - Maybe now Les Miles can actually concentrate on his team instead of worrying about being a Michigan Man. I'll take Florida in this one, as their team speed is too much for Michigan to handle. Plus, Tim Tebow's girlfriend is hot!
Rose Bowl: Illinois vs USC - Can Juice lead his team to unexpected greatness? I doubt it. They have already had their day in the sun by beating Ohio State. Trojans will win. Remember when saying Trojan you used make you laugh when you were a middle schooler?
Sugar Bowl: Hawaii vs Georgia - This one is going to be the one that I pay the most attention to. Can Hawaii finish the season undefeated? Can Georgia stiffle Hawaii's passing attack? We will see. I think that Hawaii will win this one. Plus they have the cool pre-game dance...who doesn't like that? I'm gonna start doing that before every class I have, from now on!
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma vs West Virginia - Rich Rodriquez is gone and West Virginia usually chokes in big games. Plus, Oklahoma is lead by one of the best passers this season, Sam Bradford. Boomer Sooner happens unless they take a wrong turn getting to the game.
Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech vs Kansas - Kansas lost out on the chance to play in the big game. Virginia Tech has been a difficult team for me to assess this season. Guess this one comes down to who is more hungry for this one. I'll take VaTech in this one.
International Bowl: Rutgers vs Ball State - Ball State in a bowl game being played after Jan 1st? This goes to show that there are too many bowl games. Rutgers big in this one.
GMAC Bowl: Bowling Green vs Tulsa - Tulsa already lost a recruit to Bobby Petrino and Arkansas. Think that they aren't pumped to prove to the rest of the country that they deserve respect? I'll go with Tulsa.
BCS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: LSU vs Ohio State - Ohio State is gonna need some help in this one. Quick call the Dr to calm their nerves. LSU should win this one big and once again, prove that the Big Ten should not be playing in the championship game.
