Well, three big trades have been made the past two weeks and two of those have impacted the Oakland Athletics.

The first trade between Washington and the New York Mets sent Lastings Milledge to Washington for Ryan Church and Brian Schneider.  I previously spoke on why this was good for Oakland.

The second trade just occured yesterday with Miguel Cabrera AND Dontrelle Willis heading to Detroit for an Antonio Alfonseca handful.  That's six players for those that don't know about Alfonseca.  This trade has a huge impact on Oakland, as the Los Angeles Angels were trying to get their hands on Cabrera.  If that were to happen, the Oakland would have surely gone into full-blown rebuilding mode.  However, now that Cabrera is a Tiger and Milledge is a National, Oakland has the best hand to play with the rest of the winter meetings.

The Yankees have been rumored to want Dan Haren, but Billy Beane reportedly wants two players out of Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, and Ian Kennedy.  From what I read, that isn't happening.  Good!

The Red Sox also want Haren, if they don't end up with Johan Santana.  Again Beane is aiming high in asking for Jon Lester, Jacoby Ellsbury, and/or Clay Buchholz.  If Boston ends up with Santana, then that will again stop Los Angeles from acquiring another big arm for their pitching staff.

Right now, the game is to hurry and wait.  I am just hoping that Oakland can sign or trade for someone with some pop in their bat.  But, let's not sacrifice the team for one player either.

Wow! I don't think I would be mad at that trade at all. The only concern I have is that Oakland doesn't produce enough offense to warrant having Reyes. The A's don't run on the bases much and the guys that are supposed to produce, don't. I am sounding negative right now, but I am just trying to look at it from both sides. Reyes in that park could have a couple in the parkers!! I don't know much about Mulvey...anyone else??
