Now that the deadline for teams to workout last minutes deals with their players has passed, it is time for me to take a look at who can help out my Oakland Athletics.

Dallas McPherson - This is a kid that the Angels organization had high hopes for when he first came up.  Things haven't quite panned out for him like everyone had hoped.  I think he could be a nice bench player for this team.  Who knows, he might just relax a little and get back to playing baseball at a high level.

Willie Harris - I was surprised to see Atlanta let the young center fielder go after they let Andruw Jones go as well.  They either have a legit candidate in mind or they think that Harris won't amount to much.  Again, I think this is a guy that can be a good role player for the A's and someone who can help fill in if an injury occurs.

*  Mark Prior - Here is a guy that can be amazing...when he is healthy.  I would like to see Billy Beane use his "one year theory" on Prior.  Who knows, Prior comes back, pitches like he can, Oakland reaps the immediate benefits and then Prior can move on and grab a big contract elsewhere.

*  Matt Wise - Since Oakland did not extend offers to Kiko Calero and Jose Garcia, they are looking for some bullpen help.  Wise is a middle of the road reliever that can be effective in small doses.  He had a 4.18 ERA last season, but he only lost two games last season.  He would certainly be an upgrade from Calero who had his worst season with Oakland last year (5.75 ERA, 1.65 WHIP).

Check out El Lefty Malo's take on this subject.

****  Update  ****  Oakland has signed Kiko Calero to a deal.  Guess they were more convinced about his performances before last season.  One bullpen slot down....
