I was hoping that this isn't true. Apparently it is. Needless to say, I'm not happy about it at all.
Arizona gets: Dan Haren
Oakland gets: Brett Anderson, Greg Smith, Dana Eveland, Carlos Gonzalez, Aaron Cunningham, and Chris Carter.
Basically this means that Oakland is going into rebuild mode. No Barry Bonds coming to town to DH. No playoffs for the next few years. No joy for me watching baseball.
The only player I've heard of is Eveland and that is because he came up in the Brewers' system. Milwaukee had high hopes for him and were reluctant to trade him, but they ended up sending him to Arizona, who has now sent him to Oakland...that's a great sign...sarcasm.
It will be interesting to see if Oakland continues to unload players or if they think they can compete with the team they have now. I say, no Haren, no chance.
