I was given my glimpse into what it is like to sit in on a media teleconference this morning. I was given a phone number to call and then a PIN that I had to enter in order to take part in this event.
Ron Hunter, the head coach of the IUPUI Jaguars, is taking on a special cause. He will be coaching in bare feet on January 24th against Oakland. He will be doing this in order to raise awareness for the children across the world that don't have any shoes.
The foundation that he is working with is called Samaritan's Feet. If you want to make a donation, you can go here and help out the cause.
During the teleconference I just listened for the first 20 minutes about the program and the intentions of what the organization are. I waited for everyone else to get their questions out of the way and then I asked about the state of the program and exactly what he felt a successful season is for the team. I then followed up with a question about maybe introducing a Ron Hunter Bobble Feet Doll...he already has his own Bobble Head. Coach Hunter laughed and told me that I might be onto something with that one.
All in all, I just wanted to listen to how things go when involved with something like this. It only took 25 minutes and I learned a lot more about what the organization is trying to do.
I'd like to thank Coach Hunter and Ed Holdaway for allowing me to take part in this special event. Go Jags!
