See, I told you that 2008 hasn't been so kind to me thus far. First it was Jessica Alba getting pregnant/engaged, then the Pacers are playing worse than my 5 month old niece playing Risk, and now Billy Beane has struck me down.
Beane sent Nick Swisher to the Chicago White Sox for three minor league players that I'm sure won't be contributing much, if anything, to the team this season.
The players mentioned are left-handed pitcher Gio Gonzalez, right-handed pitcher Fautino De Los Santos, and outfielder Ryan Sweeney. WOW! I don't think I can describe my thoughts on this subject any better than when Hot Tub text messaged me the bad news as I was driving up to my base for an extended weekend.
Hot Tub: A's send Nick Swisher to White Sox for Gio Gonzalez, Fautino De Los Santos, and Ryan Sweeney.
Me: F*CK ME!
That is all I could really put into words at the moment, plus I was driving and didn't want to kill someone with my road rage.
Beane has now sent away Dan Haren and Nick Swisher and received nine players in return. I can't wait to see what is next...blah!
They say bad things come in threes. I am just looking for the good stuff to start happening now.

He has gone with the thought that the only way Oakland was going to compete this year was if the team was 100% healthy. Which, that is something they can't do it seems.
Since the farm system is bare, he has taken this situation and started stockpiling the farm system with these younger players/prospects.
It is a gamble to say the least.
I think Swisher is going to be a beast in that Sox lineup. In Oakland he tried to produce too many runs on his own because the team didn't score much.

When I heard about this trade, my first thought was 'What the hell is Beane doing?!' I thought Swisher was one of his pet players and was surprised he traded him.
The White Sox will immediately see an impact with this trade. I don't think you can say the same for Oakland. From what I've read and heard, these pitchers in the trade are at least a year removed from the big leagues.
Does Beane know something we don't?
