It's been a few days since I last wrote about the Pacers. But, with all that is going on with the tournament and a couple other things, I just haven't really had a whole lot of extra time. Let me take this opportunity to get you caught up on what is going on in Pacerland.
Front Office Futures
There has reportedly been some heavy interest in Pacer CEO Donnie Walsh. A couple of the teams that are interested in Walsh are the New York Knicks and the Milwaukee Bucks. Atlanta has also been rumored to have interest in Walsh as well. This is a big deal. If Walsh is gone, that leaves Larry Bird to roam free and further trash this franchise. Speaking of Bird....
The owners of the Pacers (the Simon brothers, of Simon Malls) have made a statement that the whole organization is going to get a good dusting off this summer. They also said that either Bird or Walsh will return, but probably not both. I am hoping that they go with neither and then they can start with a fresh look on things.
I personally, would love to see Kiki Vandeweghe as the new GM. He has a pretty good sense of talent and keeps to a plan, unlike the current decision makers. Although, if Kiki is the new GM, I don't know that I could watch us keep drafting foreign players (Nene and Nikoloz Tskitishvilli).
Case Closed
The charges against Jamal Tinsley and Marquis Daniels stemming from an incident at 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis were dropped this week. They were dropped in an agreement that states that the two must stay out of all trouble for the next two years. This just goes to prove my original theory that the "victim" got money hungry and tried to cash in when he could. Good job douchebag, you just cost yourself thousands of dollars in court fees for an AGREEMENT!
Season's End
Right now, the Pacers are sitting at 26-41 and have 15 games to play. If the worst happens, they could finish at 26-56 and if the best happens, they would be at 41-41 and probably end up as a 5 seed in the playoffs. I don't see either of those happening and they will probaby end up around 32-50.
One thing the Pacers have done the past few games is that they are now starting Flip Murray at point guard. Also, Shawne Williams has played very little recently. I don't get it, he is supposed to be one of the building blocks for this franchise, but he is constantly racking up DNP-CD.
