Front Office
In recent Pacers' front office news, the Pacers are still trying to figure out what to do with the Donnie Walsh / Larry Bird situation. Donnie Walsh has interest from New York, Milwaukee, and Atlanta (rumored). Larry Bird has drawn interest from...well, nobody.
It is believed that one of the two will stay, but not both. Apparently the happy marriage has now turned into an "awkward situation." The two have locked horns a few times this season about the personnel on the team and they future of the team.
Of the two, I would prefer to have Donnie Walsh back in full control of the General Manager duties. He has a firm grasp on how to piece together a successful team, while Larry Bird is more of a fantasy basketball owner...an unsuccessful one at that. Walsh put together the teams that ran well into the playoffs every year. Bird has done the exact opposite of that.
Health Updates
Looks like Jamal Tinsley is going to miss the rest of the season with his trick knee. After an MRI on Friday, the decision to sit out was made a lot easier.
Jermaine O'Neal, out since January 16th, is expected to return to the team next week after being sidelined with a bone bruise on his knee (same ailment as yours truly...told you that it really hurts!). O'Neal stated that he would not mind coming off the bench either. Well, that is good since he hasn't played in almost two months!
Playoffs?
Seriously, the Pacers could make the playoffs now. They are 1 1/2 games out of the 8th spot in the East. After winning four games in a row, the longest streak since like 2005-2006, the Pacers have "positioned" themselves into making a run at the last spot. Just when I was getting used to the thought of getting a good draft pick, they want to go and toy with my emotions! With a game against New Orleans on Tuesday night, and another home and home series with the Nets on Wednesday and Friday, the Pacers fate could be sealed.
