street4908.jpgFinally!  Huston Street pitched an inning without giving up a run.  In doing so, he also earned his first save of the season by shutting Toronto down in the bottom of the 9th inning, giving Oakland a 9-8 win over the Blue Jays.

Street has now pitched 4 2/3 innings this season and has given up 5 runs, all earned.  He has also allowed 3 home runs to opposing batters.  Hopefully he can get on track and break out of this early season rust.

Speaking of breaking out, Travis Buck finally had his first two hits of the season going 2-for-6 on the day.  He had a double, a single, an rbi, and scored 2 runs.  For Oakland to be successful, they need the maximum output from the top of their order.

Injuries have already started to add up.  Rich Harden was scratched from yesterday's start because of a strained muscle in his upper arm.  GREAT!  Chad Gaudin filled in for Harden.  Gaudin has been battling hip injuries the past few months.  I'm sure he will be down at some point in the season.  Justin Duchscherer was placed on the 15 day DL yesterday with his biceps injury.  The season is already getting interesting!

Oakland is now 4-4 and they will have Greg Smith on the mound tonight, making his ML debut.  He was acquired in the Dan Haren trade this summer.  Dustin McGowan will be on the hill for Toronto.
