I guess Oakland doesn't feel the need to try and score runs until their last at-bat. Three games in a row now, they have won in that fashion. All three were wins against the Toronto Blue Jays, completing the sweep!
Yesterday, Travis Buck provided plenty of excitement for the A's. Buck finished the game 3-for-6 with 3 doubles and provided all 3 Oakland runs in their 3-2 win in 12 innings. Buck had an rbi double in the 5th and then provided a 2 run double in the top of the 12th inning to give Oakland a 3-1 lead. Toronto threatened to tie it back up, but Keith Foulke finally closed the door on their attempt after giving up a run scoring single by Vernon Wells.
Besides Buck's day at the plate, I observed two other things. 1) Dana Eveland pitched another great game. He finished the day with 6 strikeouts, while giving up only 3 hits and 3 walks in 6 1/3 innings of work. His ERA for the young season is now at 0.67. That is very impressive for a kid that has very minimal work in the Majors. 2) The Oakland hitters struck out 14 times yesterday. That is not impressive at all. Four of the 14 belong to Daric Barton. He really needs to start stepping it up a little bit.
Oakland will now take on Cleveland for another weekend series. This time they travel to Jacobs Field.
Rich Harden was placed on the DL with his shoulder injury, but is eligible to come off next Friday, April 18th.
