After winning the "big game" against Philadelphia on Friday, the Pacers turned around and lost to the Charlotte Bobcats AT HOME on Saturday. The loss means that Indiana has to win their last two games and Atlanta has to lose their last two games for Indiana to make the playoffs.
I really don't know what to say about Saturday's game. I am still sort of baffled at how Indiana can allow NAZR MOHAMMED a double-double (16 points, 13 boards) and allow Charlotte to grab a combined 20 offensive rebounds, 8 of them by Mohammed. Rebounding is the main reason for this loss. Indiana held Charlotte to 42% shooting, 31% on 3s, and the Pacers only commited 11 turnovers for the game. Indiana shot 41% from the field and 33% from 3-point range, but missed 9 of 25 free throws. UGH!!!!!!!!
Danny Granger had a great weekend though. He literally took over the Philadelphia game and he tried to do the same against Charlotte. He just couldn't get enough help when needed. Here is what he did over the weekend:
Versus Philly and Charlotte
- 67 points - 33.5 average
- 25-49 field goals - 9 of 22 from 3s - 8 of 10 free throws
- 17 rebounds
- 2 assists
- 3 steals
- 3 blocks
Now, I think that he did more than his fair share to keep the team in both games. He just needed some help on the glass. If Indiana kept Charlotte to 10 offensive rebounds, then the game would have swung in the Pacers' favor. Since they didn't execute on the glass, they lost a crucial game and now have to win out and hope for Atlanta to lose to Orlando (Tuesday) and Miami (Wednesday).
Indiana takes on Washington, in Washington tonight. They have to win. A loss and Indiana is in the lottery.
