As it turned out, some girl that had just got to the gym decided she was more important than the rest of us that were ALREADY THERE and asked for the TVs to be switched to the NBA game. Now, I can understand maybe one TV being switched, but when you want ALL of them switched, that is a little too much for me. So, I politely asked the girl at the front if she wouldn't mind switching one of them back. She seemed a little confused by my question. Then she seemed reluctant because of this girl that had wanted ALL of them changed. She finally said yes and went to change it. As soon as she got to where the TV that I was closest to, the old man went off and was pretty upset that someone would even think of changing the Cubs game. The girl turned red in the face, as he complained and then I just said thanks and she walked away.
So, I had a few things that I thought weird. Why would someone think they should be treated better than anyone else in a GYM of all places? Then, why would someone get so bent out of shape over something so easy to fix? On top of that, when did it become popular to fly off the handle when your "customer service" wasn't what you wanted it to be? After all, it is just another human being like you or me doing the work. Cut them slack why don't ya.
I guess when we live in the "me first" society, I should have expected that kind of reaction.

oh boy, you've run into one of my major problems where I workout at....
They have three tv's in the front of the cardio room and normally when I get in there one is on NBC, one is on ESPN and one is on MSNBC. I'm not a big SportsCenter watcher so I hate all three options.
So, if there are only a few people working out I'll get the remote and switch the MSNBC to whatever I want to watch. I don't care what other people think, I'm there to workout. You can only have so much election/war coverage. But...if there are less than three people in the cardio room I'll switch all the TV's to things I want to watch (but different shows). For example the other day I had the Cubs/Pirates game on and the Bulls/Cavs on ESPN Classic and I usually throw the other one on a soap opera just in case some old lady wants to watch it.
I get royally pissed when I'm watching a game and some girl comes in and switches on Wheel of Fortune or something like that.
When TLD and I workout at NIFS in Indy it's great because each machine has its own TV.
Yes, NIFS does spoil their guests.
I will go again this evening and I will see how things go. I figure with younger adults, this type of thing will happen more often.
Why would a girl want to watch a Wizard/Cavs game anyways?

okay, okay...do you wanna know how i would have reacted?
the exact same way as that old man.
the girl asking to change ALL the tvs to the nba game is a dumbass, and the girl who actually changed all the channels to the nba game is also a dumbass.
THAT's what happens when girls try to run shit they aren't supposed to run...like gyms and sporting events on tv. ...except for me- cuz i'm the boss. =)
(yes i know i seem passionate about this, but i'm pissed about something else and this was a nice way to vent!)
love you babe.
