While I was on the East coast this past weekend, the Oakland A's were taking care of business on the West coast.

Oakland traveled across the Bay to take on the San Francisco Giants in some inter league action.  The result?  Oakland gave up only 4 runs in the three game series, taking all three games.

The pitching was phenomenal.  Greg Smith, Rich Harden, and Dana Eveland combined for 17.2 innings, 2 earned runs, and 18 strikeouts.  All three starters earned a win in each game.

During the series, Eric Chavez tied Reggie Jackson for 4th on the all-time rbi list for Oakland.  Both players sit at 770 for their careers with Oakland.  Eric Chavez has looked impressive since he has come off of the DL.  In 55 at bats, Chavez has 16 hits and 8 rbi.

With the three wins, the A's gained two games on the Angels and are now only 3.5 games out of first place with their 38-31 record.  Next up on the schedule is a three game series with Arizona, in Arizona.  Former Oakland pitcher Dan Haren will get the start in game two of the series.
