Back in May, I offered up my opinion on some players in the NBDL that the Pacers should look at this summer.  One of those players was Earl Calloway, the former Indiana Hoosier point guard.

Calloway was a star player for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants this past season and has shown his skills so far in the first two summer league games in Orlando.

In the first game, Calloway scored 16 points and racked up 7 assists.  He then followed that performance with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.  However, Calloway has committed 10 turnovers in the two games.  He is going to need to bring that number down to about 2 per game to become a successful point guard in the NBA.

I would like Earl's chances of making the Pacers' roster if they didn't already have TJ Ford, Jarret Jack, Travis Diener, and Andre Owens in the point guard slot.  Maybe if they decide to get rid of Diener and Owens, Calloway could be a solid third string, emergency point guard.

With his play so far, Calloway will probably earn a few training camp invites from other teams this fall.  I'm hoping he keeps up his solid play, because I think he could really be a solid point guard in this league.
