Every year during the NFL draft, some small school WR will be picked during the late rounds and I will think to myself, "There is a wasted pick." That was my thought this past April when the Colts selected Pierre Garcon out of Mt Union in the 6th round.
For all of my infinite wisdom, I was not aware that the Colts were drafting a kid who was 2nd in all-time TD receptions for DIII. I also was not aware that Garcon was only the sixth player to have over 4,000 yards receiving in a DIII career. I don't care what level you are playing at, those are some great accomplishments.
I obviously had never seen this guy play in person before, so I was sort of wondering what the Colts planned to do with him in the preseason. Would he even make it to the first game against Washington? If he did make it, would he play with much of an impact? Well, yes to both questions.
Pierre Garcon, or "Peter Boy" to those who are translating from French to English, was one of the bright spots for the Colts in the Hall of Fame Game against the Washington Redskins. He ended up the game with 33 yards on 4 receptions and a nice 51 yard return on a kick-off.
I will be anxious to see what the impressive youngster can do in tonight's game against the Carolina Panthers. If he can have another impressive outing, then I would think that he would be a lock for the regular season roster.
Here's to rooting for the underdog!

I've never really been impressed with Rushing, so I personally think he can, but it is all up to the coaches.
No receptions or returns for Garcon against Carolina. Did he not play at all last night??

I didn't see his KO return. Thinking he can unseat Rushing as the return man this year?
