It's been quite a while since I've posted anything about the Oakland A's. The reasons? I'm tired of writing about bad baseball. I'm tired of writing about a team that has given up on itself. I'm tired of thinking about a front office that completely threw this season away. So, here I go again, trying to write about something positive. Trying to find the bright spots on this dismal collapse.
Bright Spot 1: Brad Ziegler - Ziegler had gone 39 scoreless innings in a row, before giving up his first run. He set the ML record for most scoreless innings pitched to start off a career. On the season he has now thrown 42 innings and given up just 2 earned runs. This equates to a .43 ERA.
Bright Spot 2: Team Pitching - As a team, the A's pitching staff has a combined 3.85 ERA. Not bad for a team that has won just two more games than the Kansas City Royals.Too bad the offense can't score some runs to help get a few wins. Sorry, got negative again.
Bright Spot 3: Next season - Growing up mostly around Cubs' fans, I can now say, "There is always next year" and mean it. Although, I think this rebuilding process is going to take a few more years now.
So, where does the team go from here? I can only hope that they go up. I can't imagine this getting any worse. The team really needs to go out and get some offense for next season. If that means trading away guys like Huston Street, Daric Barton, Travis Buck, and Carlos Gonzalez, then so be it. Billy Beane has shown that he doesn't get attached to players, so let's go get some offense and leave the pitching alone. I should stop now, before I get too much more aggravated.

As an Angels fan, I'm always worried about the A's. I'm envious of your GM who's not afraid to try and improve his team. With the opening of a new stadium, hopefully for the A's fans Beane will have more financial freedom to improve it even more...and that makes me very afraid.
If I was an Angels fan, I wouldn't be worried about the A's for a few years! It must be nice to have an owner that spends freely!

If you are tired of writing about bad baseball, you can always try writing about the Tampa Bay Rays, it's just an idea
