So far, the US Men are 1-0-1 in group play in Beijing.  They go into Wednesday tied with Nigeria with 4 points a piece and both teams control their own fate.  Whoever wins will get into the medal round.  Whoever loses will have to keep an eye on the Netherlands and Japan match.  If Netherlands wins, then the loser of the US and Nigeria match would be sent home.

The match will not be an easy one with Freddy Adu and Michael Bradley having to sit out because of yellow cards they accrued in the first two games.  However, with the attacking ability of Jozy Altidore, the US could put plenty of pressure on the Nigerian squad.

In other groups, Argentina, Brazil, and Italy have all sealed their bids for the medal round with wins in their first two contests.

Has anyone else been enjoying watching the Olympics?  If so, what has been your most anticipated or most watched event?

That game Sunday was just awful. The US should have already sealed their ticket to the medal round. After going up 2-1 they completely abandoned their style that got them the lead and went into defense mode. They fell back on defense and let the Dutch attack non-stop. I kept yelling for us to at least boot the ball downfield and run some clock, but they would NEVER clear it out to force the Dutch to reset. So of course we fouled a guy just outside the penalty box and they beat us with a free kick. I know they didn't lose the game, but for as close as it was to being a US win it sure felt like a loss. Freddy Adu was playing really well and it felt okay that he was out the next game, because we were heading to the medal round. Now we have to beat a good team without 2 of our best players just to stay alive. A bad situation we got ourselves into. This Nigeria game shouldn't even matter!!! With the frustration I am displaying now, just imagine how I was on Sunday!!!!

I agree with you on all of this. I don't see the harm in continuing to attack. Look at what Brazil did in their 5-0 win. They scored with almost no time remaining. You have to keep attacking when goal differential is a big part of determining if you move on or not.

I just hope that losing Adu and Bradley doesn't come back to bite us in the butt.

Soccer? Who cares about soccer at the Olympics? Especially when there is sculling, kayaking and cycling.
Anyone know why we haven't been able to see any of the basketball games? I wouldn't mind seeing the martial arts competition
i'm getting tired of watching swimming and gymnastics

I've seen both the basketball games. Not sure which channel they were on since DirecTV has everything bunched together, but check your listings for CNBC, MSNBC, USA, and Oxygen for other olympic sports other than what the main network shows. The basketball games have also been in the morning our time, so keep that in mind as well.
