michsack.jpgIt doesn't really seem all that possible that college football season is here, but it is!  Week one ended with a great game as UCLA upset #18 Tennessee in overtime.

I started the Picks Season off right, finishing 22-4 on the weekend, including the UCLA victory.  I did miss on the Illinois pick, Clemson pick, Virginia Tech pick, and the Pitt pick (D'oh!).

That's right, Michigan lost it's season opener again.  This time, it was against Utah, but it was still in the Big House.  Not an impressive start to the Rich Rodriguez era.  Still plenty of season to turn it around though.

How long will it be before Dave Wan'stache gets fired from Pitt?  Losing to Bowling Green by 10 when you are ranked, playing at home, and up 14-0 in the first half is not going to help your cause any.  I should have seen it coming, but bought into the hype!

The two HUGE games this weekend turned boring quickly and only one pulled off any late excitement.  Clemson was spanked by Alabama and Illinois couldn't keep up with Jeremy Maclin or the rest of the Missouri Tigers.

Kellen Lewis proved he was worth the start and led Indiana to a 31-13 victory over Western Kentucky.  Lewis threw for 144 yards and 2TDS and ran for another 185 yards and 2TDs.  Maybe he can throw his hat into the Heisman mix?  Hopefully Kelper will have more on the game later.

Finally, I got to witness the day that "Beamer Ball" came back to bite Virginia Tech in the ass.  That's right, Eastern Carolina pulled off the late game stunner with a blocked punt and return for the TD and for the victory.  On a sidenote, hometown product, RB Darren Evans (Warren Central) produced his first rushing touchdown for Virginia Tech.  He finished with 37 rushing yards and 6 receiving yards on the day.  I'll expect to see plenty more this season, he is an incredible talent.
