They NEED to put a parking lot right there. There is very little parking near Lucas Oil and it is a pain in the arse. In my eyes, a parking lot to replace the dome makes more sense than expanding the convention center.
I think that if they put in a parking lot, it would cause more harm than good. It would be a logistical nightmare to get to the parking lot and even a bigger pain trying to get out of the city. They block off most of the streets around the stadium anyway. You'd have to park extra early and leave late to allow for pedestrian traffic.
I think a deal with the NCAA should have been made that brought a Bowl game into Indianapolis and also some deals for neutral site basketball games in during the college season. Not to mention concerts (which suck at LOS apparently), motocross, and high school sports.
Leave the LOS as a football stadium during the football season, use it for basketball for March Madness, and bring back the NIKE Camp in the summer and put it there.

With as many college bowl games as there are now a days, why can't Indy host the Hoosier Bowl in there? Just cut the top off of it and you have a college stadium, or they can turn it into a huge parking lot either or
