Sitting here at work and I am wondering exactly how the Colts can beat the Titans tonight, in Tennessee. I am struggling to decide if they can, but the fan in me just keeps saying, "Yes, the Colts are going to win tonight." With fan "logic" aside, here is what needs to happen tonight.
1. Stop the run! If Indianapolis can do this, then the game is theirs. It is just that simple. Stop the run, stop the run, stop the run, stop the run. I can say it until I am blue in the face, but it won't matter unless they can go out and execute that agenda. My co-worker EW says, "....unfortunately, they will likely be able to stop Chris Johnson (whom I need to do well to win my fantasy game) and then LenDale White will saunter through them like they're children and cross the goal line seven times with Marlin Jackson hanging on to his right ankle." That is a pretty specific scenario, but it is definitely one that the Colts can't afford. Hit them hard, hit them early, and swarm to the ball.
2. Take advantage of any Titan mistakes. Tennessee doesn't give their opponents many extra opportunities, so the Colts need to capitalize on any and all that they are given tonight.
3. Make Nick Harper look like Jason David. Remember when Jason David left Indy for big money in New Orleans? Remember when David was made to look like Buster "Toast" Larkins in the opener last season? Let's pick on Harper tonight with our superior receiving corps. Run everyone his way and keep pounding it his way. Although, I am going to say that Peyton doesn't throw that little 7 yard comeback route. It gets jumped more than the new kid in school in a karate movie. NO - PICK - SIX - PEYTON!
If Indy can do those three "simple" things, then the game will go the Colts' way. If not, then ESPN will run 39,874 "How great are the Titans" or "Remember the Titans...are Undefeated" pieces this week, and I don't really want that!
