Last season, I gave you five players to watch for.  This year, I am going to do the same, but a little differently.  I am going to build a rotation on guys that I think will bust out this year.  You aren't going to see the obvious stars like CP3 or Kobe, so enjoy and critique as you see fit.

Starters

  • Ray Felton (PG, Charlotte) - While some would argue this pick, I will say that this is probably going to be Felton's best season as a pro.  He is going to be showcasing his talents for another team most likely (since Charlotte drafted DJ Augustin) and this is probably the best squad he has been on since his arrival to the NBA.  With wings like Jason Richardson and Gerald Wallace, expect plenty of highlights beginning with Felton.
  • Mickael Pietrus (SG, Orlando) - Pietrus was tabbed as the greatest thing coming out of France since...hmm...The Statue of Liberty.  It looks as though Pietrus has locked up the starting 2-guard spot for the Magic and he should be able to showcase his all around skills in their offense.  Hopefully Hedo and Shard don't forget to give this guy the ball!
  • Wilson Chandler (SF, New York) - Chandler has been creating quite a buzz this preseason.  Mikey D might just give the youngster the green light this season to see what he can do.  With Jamal Crawford shooting 859 times a night, Chandler can also grab some extra rebounds in this offense.
  • Andray Blatche (PF, Washington) - Blatche had a decent season last year in the shoot happy Wizards offense.  This year could be his year.  With Agent Zero out for a while and Brendan Haywood out for the year, Blatche is going to see a ton of minutes.  With defenses focused on the duo of Antwan Jamison and Caron Butler, Blatche will get plenty of open looks and weak side baskets.
  • Andrea Bargnani (C, Toronto) - With the addition of Jermaine O'Neal to Toronto's frontcourt, some might think that Bargnani's numbers might fall some.  However, I think the opposite.  With JO and Chris Bosh downlow, Toronto will be able to go big and have Bargnani free to roam the perimeter or use him on the blocks against some smaller defenders.  This is the year that he will start to look like a number one pick.

Bench

  • Kelenna Azubuike (SG, Golden State)
  • Thaddeus Young (SF/PF, Philadelphia)
  • Yakhouba Diawara (SG/SF, Miami)
  • Bobby Simmons (SG/SF, New Jersey)
  • Kevin Love (PF/C, Minnesota)
  • Mike Conley, Jr. (PG, Memphis)
  • Sean Williams (C, New Jersey)

Well, there you have it.  As you can see, the team is smaller than some, but the individual talents would serve the lineup justice.

Let me know what you think or who you think is ready for a breakout this season.
