After I had wrote about the Rafael Furcal situation in the MLB Roundtable here on the BBF network, I had mentioned that he wouldn't be worth much more than the $9mil a year they had offered him a few weeks ago.  He rejected that offer and it looked like the A's were back to the drawing board.

After another offer of 4years/$38mil, Furcal apparently said that he was not interested in playing for the A's and has since picked up heavy talks with both the Braves and the Dodgers.  In the end, it looked like the A's were used to raise his price on the market.

I'm pretty happy that Furcal did not take the deal, because I feel like he would have been a waste of money in an A's uniform.  Like Brian had mentioned about AJ Burnett, I feel the same about Furcal.  He will probably be great with another team, but with my team, he would be nothing but a burden with injuries and lack of performance.  Plus, who wants a guy playing for your team when he says that he doesn't want to play there?

I also spoke about Orlando Cabrera being a long shot for the A's if Furcal fell through.  Today, I saw a rumor about this topic on MLB Trade Rumors.  I know that he would cost the A's a 2nd round pick, but may be worth the production value.

I really don't mind if Bobby Crosby is the SS this season, but I can't stand to go through another season full of injuries.

I'm just wondering when some pitching names start to pop up surrounding the A's this winter!
