I'm still wondering how the work that Martin Luther King Jr. put in and basketball mix, but I guess the NBA feels that this is a day that they can make some extra money with a lot of kids and their parents out of school and work for the day. This is the part of sports that I hate the most; the greed.
In saying that, I was a little excited to see that the Pacers would be playing at 3:30pm today in New Orleans. The Hornets beat the Pacers 105-103 back on December 28th on game-winning shot by David West with two seconds left. The typical ending!
Danny Granger is up to fourth in the NBA in scoring average at 26.3 points per game. He also leads the team in steals and blocks per game with just over one a piece for both categories. It looks like he will probably get a reserve spot on the All-Star team this season, which he is deserving of, but I still say that the fan-voting aspect of the game should be changed up.
Mike Dunleavy hasn't looked as rusty as I thought he would since he has returned from his knee troubles. In the six games that he has played in, he has averaged 16.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. His shooting isn't as good as it was last season, but I figure with time, he will get his game legs back and those percentages will go up.
With two wins in a row, the Pacers will go for their first three game streak since November! I'll definitely welcome any amount of wins in a row right now.
At 15-25, Indiana is still only 3 1/2 games out of the final spot for the playoffs. If everyone can get healthy and on the same page, the rotation will definitely get stronger and I would expect quite a bit more winning streaks.
