For those of you that don't have anything to look forward to now that your brackets have officially been busted (I still have UConn and UNC), you can have some fun following all of the latest college basketball coaching moves.
Here is what I've gathered so far:
* Kentucky canned Billy Clyde Gillispie and now are courting John Calipari with a beautiful contract of $35 million over 8 years. I have to assume he signs that contract....unless Billy Donovan decides to leave Florida (again) after he said he was staying.
* Alabama signed former VCU coach (and Florida assistant), Anthony Grant to a contract to help restore the Tide's winning ways.
* VCU turned around and lured another Florida assistant, Shaka Smart, away to coach their team. Wonder if he will have the same success that Grant had.
* Georgia is trying to lure Missouri's Mike Anderson down to Athens with a deal that is apparently around $2 million per year. But, Mizzou is trying to throw some cash together to keep Anderson in Columbia for another 5 years and about $1.3 million per year. Sounds interesting, but not as interesting as it would be if Calipari leaves Memphis and the Tigers come calling.
* It seems like teams in the southeastern part of the country are only hiring coaches right now. Virginia has successfully lured Tony Bennett away from Washington State to help turn that program around after the unsuccessful attempt by Dave Leitao. I'm not really sure why he decided to make the move from one coast to the other, but maybe he can do something with this Cavalier team.
* So now Washington State joins Arizona as two teams in the PAC-10 looking for new coaches this year. I know Russ Pennell is officially the interim coach at Arizona, but I don't see him getting the job in the long run.
I'm sure we will see more changes in the near future, so stick around and throw me some info if you know of any moves or changes.
