Congratulations Josh McDaniels, you have successfully pissed off your franchise quarterback! What are you going to do for your next act? Change the team name to Denver Patriots?! I think that might be the only way you could really go above and beyond your current situation.
For those that don't know what I am referring to, McDaniels tried to dangle franchise QB, Jay Cutler, as trade bait in order to bring one year starter, Matt Cassell, into Denver. Cutler caught wind of said trade and is rightfully not pleased. Cutler has taken the stance of "You wanted to trade me, so I don't want to be here" and now Denver is in scramble mode trying to get Cutler to calm down. Cutler has decided that he will not meet with Bronco team officials and is held firm on wanting out of Denver.
This does not look good for Denver. After going out and adding some defensive help by signing free agents Andra Davis and Brian Dawkins and then making an effort to help with the running game by signing JJ Arrington and Correll Buckhalter, the team looked poised to give San Diego a tough run for the AFC West this season. Now, not so much.
I read that the three locations that Cutler could end up are Tampa Bay, Detroit, and Chicago. If I were Cutler, I'd push for Tampa Bay (warm weather and all that) or Detroit (Calvin Johnson please). I don't know that Detroit would give up the first pick in the draft for Cutler, but I think they would stupid not too. Cutler is clearly a better choice over Matt Stafford and Mark Sanchez. Let Denver then choose Stafford with the first pick and then watch as Brandon Marshall shreds every bit of confidence the rookie QB might have. Perfect situation!
Doesn't really surprise me that someone from the New England organization tried some shady crap and had it blow up in his face. Josh McDaniels, keep carrying that torch buddy, you are doing a superb job so far!
