There are some rumors going around that the press conference the Pacers are holding today is to announce that Danny Granger has won the NBA's Most Improved Player award for this season.
That is a pretty nice accomplishment for Granger as he improved his point production from 19.6 to 25.8 points per game this season. In fact, each season he has been in the league, he has raised his average 6 points from the previous season. Take a look at what I'm talking about:
- 2005-06 (rookie season) - 7.5ppg
- 2006-07 - 13.9ppg
- 2007-08 - 19.6 (so 5.7 points per game higher)
- 2008-09 - 25.8ppg
That is pretty impressive to me. That shows two things to me, 1) Granger's role on the team has transformed from the time he arrived in Indiana until now and 2) Hard work, plain and simple. If you bust your butt and work on your game, you will see the results you want.
Now, to get the team on that same pace and let's start winning some of those close games this year guys!
