This past season, it seemed that Indiana had too many wing players. Going into the summer, the Guards and Forwards are a bit thinned out. I am going to take a look at the Small Forwards today.
Free Agents at Position:
- Stephen Graham - decent role player that could be brought back if the price is right. Not sure how much interest other teams have in him.
Under Contract at Position:
- Danny Granger - The face of the franchise isn't going anywhere. I know that I'm not the only one that feels this way, but the Pacers' organization and fans are really blessed to see a player of his caliber in the blue and gold. Now, let's get him some help!
Possible Draft Picks at Position:
Earl Clark and Austin Daye are both possibilities, but each have pretty holes in their games. Clark can't shoot from the perimeter, which is what the Pacers' offense thrives on. Daye is way too soft at this point in his collegiate career. At 6'10, you'd hope for some toughness, but he lingers too much on offense. Having said that, if the Pacers drafted Daye, I would be pretty pleased, because he has that much potential. Getting it out of him is the challenge at this point. Other than these two, I would be pleased with Damion James or Danny Green in the second round.
Possible Free Agents at Position:
- Trevor Ariza - I've been calling for Ariza in Indiana for a few seasons now. Good energy player that can get to the bucket effectively.
- Wally Szczerbiak - Wally World can still shoot the trey. He won't get anywhere near the almost 14mil he made this season though.
- Ime Udoka - Reasonably cheap and is a very good perimeter defender.
- Matt Barnes - I'll take his energy and defense any night of the week. Mohawk, tats, and all!
Possible Trade Targets:
I really don't any targets in this area due to the fact that Granger is the main guy here and the only way a trade works is trading a bad contract for a bad contract for depth. Doesn't seem feasible to me.
