Finally to pick 13.  Will it be a lucky number for the Pacers this year?

Follow me inside to see who I think the Pacers will pick.

2009 Free Agents
  • Jarrett Jack (Restricted)
  • Josh McRoberts (Restricted)
  • Marquis Daniels(Team Option - Unrestricted)
  • Maceo Baston (Unrestricted)
  • Travis Diener (Player Option - Unrestricted)
  • Stephen Graham (Unrestricted)
  • Rasho Nesterovic (Unrestricted)

Of these players, I'd bring back Jarrett Jack (no higher than the MLE), Marquis Daniels (trade bait), and Stephen Graham.

Depth Chart (Pre-Draft)

PG:  TJ Ford
SG:  Brandon Rush - Mike Dunleavy Jr (injured - out until January)
SF:  Danny Granger
PF:  Troy Murphy
C:  Roy Hibbert - Jeff Foster

Draft Picks (Mock Picks)

  • 13th overall - Jrue Holiday, PG, UCLA - Holiday has plenty of length and athleticism to be able to hold his own against the quicker point guards in the league.  Perimeter defense is something the Pacers lacked the last few seasons and he can help with that area.
  • 52nd overall - Goran Suton, PF, Michigan State - Suton isn't going to put up double-double numbers, but he can certainly get into the paint and cause some trouble.  He is a big body that can knock down a nice mid-range jumper.

Depth Chart (Post-Draft)

PG:  TJ Ford - Jrue Holiday
SG:  Brandon Rush
SF:  Danny Granger
PF:  Troy Murphy - Goran Suton
C:  Roy Hibbert - Jeff Foster

Players on Trade Block

  • Jeff Foster
  • Jamal Tinsley

Tinsley is still sitting on his can in Atlanta and getting PAID.  If I was the Pacers, I'd bring him back.  Let the man play and up his trade value.  Nobody wants a player that isn't playing!  Foster has value around the league as a guy to come off the bench and get the hustle plays.

Final Analysis

This team needs to start winning their close games.  Once they do that, they can make the playoffs.  Getting closer, but I think they will miss again this year....unless they make some unexpected trades this summer.

Man, for some reason I thought the Pacers had more draft picks but I guess not. Everywhere I read has them taking Blair from Pittsburgh but I wonder if they take Tyreke Evans if he drops to them.

If Evans drops to us, I'll crap my pants. Of course, if he does, then they will trade him away just like they did with Bayless last season!

I'd rather have Hansbrough over Blair if that was the case.

If Jack is back, then I think they will go with Blair, Earl Clark, or James Johnson.

I keep hearing Blair but i'm not sure how he and Hibbert fit in with O'Brien's offensive strategy. Earl Clark is a good name but for some reason I think he's a shady character and i doubt Bird would go for any more of that.

I was thinking that Terrence Williams was the one with the background check flags popping up, but it might be Clark.

I saw Hibbert out last night and he looks like he got a little skinnier, so he might be ready to start running more.

we need some sort of point guard that can penetrate so our outside shooting will be utilized. think about it murphy, rush, ford, and of course granger can shoot. As we saw this year it works look at what orlando did without their point guard. We need to draft Ty Lawson.

I like Lawson, but he doesn't defend so well.

Holiday can penetrate just as well as Lawson too.

If I had my way about it, I'd take Eric Maynor from VCU.
