Continuing on in the quest to achieve draft greatness, the Kings are on the clock with the fourth pick of the draft.  What direction will they go?

2009 Free Agents

• Ike Diogu (Restricted)
• Rashad McCants (Restricted)
• Calvin Booth (Unrestricted)
• Bobby Jackson (Unrestricted)
• Cedric Simmons (Unrestricted)

I'll have to assume that Sacramento lets all of these guys walk in an effort to cut the salary cap numbers.

Depth Chart (Pre-Draft)

PG:  Will Solomon - Beno Udrih
SG:  Kevin Martin
SF:  Francisco Garcia - Andres Nocioni - Donte Greene
PF:  Jason Thompson - Kenny Thomas
C:  Spencer Hawes

Draft Picks (Mock Picks)

• 4th - Ricky Rubio, PG, Spain - This will bring in a lot of ticket sales, which is something the Kings need.  Rubio would be the starter from day one.
• 23rd - Chase Budinger, SG/SF, Arizona - Budinger will provide perimeter depth and even more athleticism to the back court.
• 31st - Omri Casspi, SF/PF, Maccabi Tel Aviv - Casspi is another SF/PF hybrid that is starting to fill the Kings' roster up.  Not sure if you would stay overseas a year or two or come to the NBA right away if not picked in the first round.

Final Analysis

The Kings are getting younger and more athletic, which is good, but they need an identity.  Maybe by adding Rubio they can grab some of that identity as a running team.  With the wing players, the athleticism runs deep, so this could start to look like another version of the Golden State Warriors.  Time will only tell with this squad though, because they are still looking for a coach.
