I really can't believe that we are into September already.  It seems like just yesterday I was watching my drunk roommates try to catch a stray dog in the rain on the 4th of July...ahh Summer memories!  Anyway, on with the picks - I will do all Thursday, ESPN games and ranked games all season long.

Thursday - September 3rd, 2009

South Carolina @ North Carolina State (ESPN - 7pm EST) - I was going to pick South Carolina to win on the road and then I saw a stat that showed Steve Spurrier is 18-1 in season openers in his career.  That further cemented my pick.  Cocks avoid being eaten by the Wolfpack!

Utah State @ #19 Utah - Is there a team that gets less respect than Utah in all of college football?  They are 64-22 since 2002 and have the nation's longest winning streak at 14 games right now.  I say the Utes continue that streak tonight.

#16 Oregon @ #14 Boise State (ESPN - 10:15pm EST) - I like Oregon a lot this year, but Boise State is a tough customer, especially at home.  I've flipped a coin several times and still can't decided what to think of this game.  In the end, I am going to go with the Broncos, because Oregon is working with a new coach this season and I think there might be a little bit of a lapse right at the beginning of the season.  Broncos trample the Ducks.

Friday - September 4th, 2009

Tulsa @ Tulane (ESPN - 8pm EST) - I don't know a ton about these teams, except for the fact that Tulsa puts up a lot of offensive numbers.  I'll take the Golden Hurricanes over the Green Wave in this one.

Saturday - September 5th, 2009

Navy @ #6 Ohio State (ESPN - 12pm EST) - Is there really even a debate as to who will win this one?  Ohio State wins their opener at home.

Akron @ #9 Penn State (Big 10 Network - 12pm EST) - The Nittany Lions are supposed to be pretty tough this year.  I think their defense will be in the top 10 this year.  Nittany Lions maul the Zips.

Northern Iowa @ #22 Iowa - Kirk Ferentz needs to have a great year to stop any talk of him getting fired at Iowa.  Hawkeyes might have some trouble with Northern Iowa if this was a basketball game, but it is football, so Iowa wins it.

Jacksonville State @ #15 Georgia Tech - The Yellow Jackets should have a pretty solid team this season.  This definitely isn't a game to get them prepared for the ACC, but a win is a win.  GT stings J-State.

San Jose State @ #4 USC - The Spartans and Trojans will battle for control of the Aegian Sea  nothing really.  USC can parade Matt Barkley in front of thousands of fans in a blowout game.  About all we will learn from this game is how many times the cameras will show smoking hot females in the stands.  Trojans control Sparta their homefield.

#13 Georgia @ #9 Oklahoma State (ABC - 3:30pm EST) - This is my game of the week right here since Virginia Tech is without Darren Evans.  I see the Cowboys throwing up some big numbers on offense this year.  Not sure that Georgia can keep up with them.  OK State bbq's UGA.

Nevada @ #23 Notre Dame (NBC - 3:30pm EST) - The fact that Notre Dame is ranked is a complete joke to me.  I despise the Golden Domers anyway.  I won't pick in favor of them all season long.  Let's go Wolfpack!

Citadel @ #21 North Carolina - I get why teams schedule cupcakes at the beginning of the season and I get why those cupcakes take the money, but what are we going to learn about a team like North Carolina that is ranked against Citadel?  UNC big in this one.

Charleston Southern @ #1 Florida - Yawwnnn, Tebow is done at halftime.  Gators win.

Louisiana-Monroe @ #2 Texas - Colt McCoy shows why he is a Heisman candidate and one of the best players in Texas football history as he pads his stats in this one.

#20 BYU @ #3 Oklahoma (ESPN - 7pm EST) - This could be a trap game for the Sooners.  I like the Cougars explosive offensive scheme.  But, I think OU has too much beef up front and Boob (not Bob) Stoops will keep his team in the running for the National Championship after the first week.

Florida Atlantic @ #24 Nebraska - Husker fans are now on my list of fans to root against after witnessing how obnoxious they are.  Does FAU really need to travel to Nebraska for this kind of pounding?

Northern Colorado @ #25 Kansas - Mark Mangino will try to work the rust off of his team's manginas in this snoozer.

#5 Alabama @ #7 Virginia Tech (ABC - 8pm EST) - Nick Saban has a very talented group to work with and with his coaching, they could be the National champs this year.  This will be a tough first test, but without VaTech's Darren Evans in the game, it won't be the same.  I'm taking Bama.

Maryland @ #12 California (ESPN2 - 10pm EST) - Cal has taken a bite out of my pride the last few seasons, so I will go against them in their home opener this year.  The Terps slowly, but surely beat the Bears.

#11 LSU @ Washington (ESPN - 10:30pm EST) - This is a big road trip for the Tigers to start off the season.  They will find out a lot about their team in this game.  LSU has the talent and firepower to win this one and I think that they will do so.

Sunday - September 6th, 2009

#8 Mississippi @ Memphis (ESPN - 3:30pm EST) - Jevan Snead has a big target on his back this season.  With all the to-do over the QB voting in the SEC and the fact that there is talk of Snead being the Heisman dark horse, this kid has to deliver the goods more than Don Ready.  I think Houston Nutt will get his team firing on all cylinders in the opener.  Watch out for Dexter McCluster - my favorite name in college football this year.  Rebels yell!

Monday - September 7th, 2009

Cincinatti @ Rutgers (ESPN - 4pm EST) - Rutgers is trying to match the success it had when Ray Rice was on campus, while the Bearcats want to continue their recent success from the last couple seasons.  I am going with the Scarlett Knights at home in this one.

Miami (FL) @ #18 Florida State (ESPN - 8pm EST) - Miami has more drama than the LBC and Florida State might be the losingest (new word) #18 ranked team in college sports history.  However, Bobby Bowden knows how to cheat and not get caught for decades.  I'm going with FSU.
