http://www.arinitout.com/img/nba-logo.jpgI'm BACK!  After a month off to concentrate on doing server moves at work, I am now back on the beat.  It is time for the NBA to officially start, now that my Pacers have their first game tonight in Atlanta.  Last night's games were entertaining no doubt about it.  It should be a very interesting year heading into the Summer of 2010 with all of the free agency talks, contract talks, and the possibility of a salary cap decrease.  However, I want to focus on the here and now and give you my thoughts on what to expect this NBA season.

Eastern Conference Playoff Teams

  1. Boston
  2. Cleveland
  3. Orlando
  4. Philadelphia
  5. Miami
  6. Chicago
  7. Washington
  8. Indiana

Western Conference Playoff Teams

  1. Los Angeles Lakers
  2. San Antonio
  3. Portland
  4. Denver
  5. Dallas
  6. Utah
  7. New Orleans
  8. Phoenix

Jonny Flynn - PG - Minnesota - Flynn will have the ball in his hands a lot this season and he will either sink or swim.  I think he will swim and help the Timberwolves' fans get over not having Ricky Rubio this season...or perhaps ever.

MVP

It is really going to come down to Kobe and LeBron...and DWade...and KG...and maybe CP3, but I'm putting my stock in King James.

NBA Finals Showdown

It looks like the Celtics and Lakers again.  KG is back and healthy, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce haven't dropped off any, and Rajon Rondo is playing for big money next season.

The Lakers brought in Ron Artest while only losing Trevor Ariza.  Andrew Bynum had all Summer to get healthy and Lamar Odom is in love.  So, you tell me who is gonna beat that in the West?

My Top Five Rookies to Watch

  • Jonny Flynn
  • Brandon Jennings
  • Jordan Hill
  • Stephen Curry
  • Jrue Holiday

The Spurs.

I like what the Spurs did in the Summer, but the thing that scares me is their health in the backcourt.

Parker is always falling and getting nicked up and Ginobili is always having some sort of ailment.

That is why I did not pick the Spurs this year, but they are my heart pick, just not my head pick.

They can beat the Lakers though. Especially with the way they play. They are so deep this year with all the guys they brought over. Now, if Parker goes down or Ginobili is out for awhile, they still have the firepower to help Duncan make it through the storm.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better all around squad in their first twelve roster spots.

Parker
Finley
Bonner - ugh
Jefferson
Duncan
Ginobili
Blair
Roger Mason
George Hill
McDyess
Bogans
Ratliff

That's a lot of quality.

I'd be pleased as punch if the Spurs won. I HATE the Lakers, but my head tells me that they are the team to beat this year.

If they could replace Bonner with Matt Bullard, I would pick them every year!
